In 2016, Mitch McConnell repeatedly cited a nonexistent Senate “tradition” of not considering Supreme Court nominees during a president’s last year in office. Democrats are now citing him.https://nyti.ms/2Ms2unx

Because they don’t seem to realize that this isn’t a presidential election year... The president makes the picks. Mid terms have literally no effect on that. Someone go explain to them how the system works

Someone explain to Nick here that the Senate has to confirm the pick. And that there's a Senate election this year.

Mmmhmmm.... now tell me about how youre going to manage to not confirm a supreme court justice for 2 1/2 years without massive political fallout. Please, by all means, hand Trump his 2020 victory.pic.twitter.com/dozf5FgzVe

Somebody just said "The President makes the picks". If the President refuses to pick anyone who the Senate will confirm, despite a large array of acceptable candidates, I think the Democrats would be perfectly fine running on that in 2020.

Haha, sure. Good luck getting that narrative to stick with anyone outside the rabid left base. You must have been asleep during the Gorsuch selection.

According to most Trumpistas, everyone who isn't a Trumpista is "rabid left base". So yeah, I'm fine with only convincing 70%+ of the electorate of the position.

If you win the midterms and don’t confirm a justice by the time the presidential election comes around you can claim that Trump/GOP are losers at their own game and change the perception of those gullible/oscillating moderate voters.

No. Democrats are asking him to at least for the love of God be self consistent. Of course he won't but it is important to point out hypocrisy. You used to do that, too.

Senators vote for SCOTUS. 1/3 of Senate is up for re-election, to be chosen by voters in November. SCOTUS pick should be chosen by the Senate that is voted for in November. #voterschoice

The US economy would collapse before that with a complete moron at the helm. He can’t ride Obama’s accomplishments for that long.
