Modern Love: "It’s been said that people are motivated by love or fear. So my question for us is: Are we doing this because we love each other or because we’re afraid of each other?"https://nyti.ms/2tjDDv6

My partner and I Iive apart. We are much better when we don't co-habitate. We see each other about 4 days a week. The other days we get our own time. Love it. Recommend it.

Certainly it is not fear of each other; rather it is fear of being alone. It's a way of holding on to a consolation prize in the event something better doesn't come along. People are increasingly less willing & or capable of sustaining normal relationships.

        1. afraid of divorce or the financial burden it could cause. 2. fear of being alone. 3. selfishly not wanting the other to move on. 4. ones self is not ready to move on. 5. Substance abuse & feeling obligated to help them. Either way it doesn’t sound healthy, mentally.
