The political and social sensibilities of the NFL and the NBA have been exposed like never before. And they're in stark contrast.https://nyti.ms/2tiFJuS

Whereas the NFL fan base is extremely polarized politically, the NBA fan base is much more cohesive politically (but diverse demographically) and therefore not nearly as much of a ripe target for Trump's demagoguery.

All that you really have to do to understand why the NBA is immune to this stuff is to ask yourself the last time that you saw a pickup truck with a confederate flag sticker parked outside of an NBA arena with the tailgate down.

The NBA has the luxury of being able to stand unequivocally behind their players, and also, to have a good chuckle at any attempt by Trump to drive a wedge between the league and the fans. And, naturally, the fear of looking weak guarantees Trump wouldn't even try.

Because individual players in the NBA are bigger then the league it self

NASCAR, MLB, PGA, and NHL ratings are also down at the same rate as NFL and NBA without anything political involved. Which would lead me to believe the ratings drop has noting to do with politics.

Maybe the NBA have a bigger African American fan base and it’s stances don’t hurt its bottom line. While the NFL have majority of whites that will and did hurt its bottom line? NBA superstars are mostly black as well, so it’s a racial thing but more importantly, money.

the nfl and nba both suck, to many "all about me" players. MLB was, is, and always will be #1

There is no stark contrast. Both are against police brutality. Both speak out about it. Trump took an oath to protect U.S. citizens instead he attacked football players and they received death threats.
