"Do we have a reason to be sorry, to apologize?" Charleston's mayor said, his voice unsteady. "We do."https://nyti.ms/2ymQDF0

That's the thing. America has never apologized for what it's done to POC. At this point I'm not sure if they ever will.

Slavery still has an impact on today's society, whether you want to acknowledge it or not. The story is still continuing.

Nobody alive today had any hand it. All of history sucked in case you didn't notice. Is every nation supposed to apologise for everything bad 100 years ago?

The apology does not reverse the effects of this nations history with those folks who first crossed the Atlantic ocean illegally. Please, put Native Americans in charge and all you Europeans resign from your office seats.

And nice albeit meaningless gesture. How can one apologize for a past one wasn't part of?

Get a life. You probably weren’t born yet. Let’s be sorry for Indians, Chinese coolies, Egyptian slaves, we are here because of all this history. We can’t change anything. Put your big boy pants on & stop whining Just looking for the spot light

“Sorry” for something you didn’t do? Can someone be proud of something they didn’t do, also?
