New York City is taking another step toward reducing marijuana arrests. The mayor said most — but not all — people caught smoking will be ticketed.https://nyti.ms/2M6Mnf1

Most people? I assume that means minorities will still be arrested?

“Most but not all” is not an acceptable policy. It allows cops to arrest those they want to arrest while allowing others to get off. It’s an inherently inequitable system of justice that tends to favor affluent white people. Legalize.

Lol no one reads anything but the headlines. Most meaning anyone who hasn't committed a violent crime in the last 3 years, not up to the discretion of the officers. Nothing racist about this; there is plenty of real racism to combat out there guys

From the article...if you didn't read past the head line. "if they have been arrested in connection with a violent crime in the last three years, are on probation or parole or have an open arrest warrant."

Come on America, Be like Canada; just legalize marijuana. Enough putting people in slavery (jail) for smoking a plant. People smoke cigarettes which causes cancer. Damn, what is taking so long? America got to keep that jail full (profit game). #jail #marijuana #america #canada

While the jury is still out on the long-term impact of marijuana use among States, you do think about what existing penalties have done to pack our crowded courts, jails and prisons. It makes sense to do research, set health & safety standards and have uniformity.

Now, how about reversing all the felony charges for pot handed out in this country the past fifty years?
