She is the first Latina and openly lesbian woman to be nominated for governor in Texas. Her first task? Winning over a skeptical progressive community.https://nyti.ms/2M1TQf9

I’ll freely admit that she was not my first, nor second choice. But it is absolutely CRUCIAL that Texas Democrats unite. We MUST vote, and vote together.

This is the only tweet in this thread that has one ounce of intelligence. The Republicans don't need to do anything to win this fall as long as the Democrats continue to eat their own. Instead of using words like 'Progressive', learn another more important one: Strategy.

Doesn't matter how progressive she is or isn't-if she won over Abbott in still deeply red Texas, it would be more of a miracle than the Trump win. Not to mention there are a lot of deeply Conservative Catholic Latinos here who still have a gay bias.

Texans, above many others I would reckon, know talent, intelligence and a good person when they see it. Not worried.

I’ll confess to not knowing much about her (having been focused on the home front), but unless she has some serious cognitive dissonance, I think it’s safe to say that a thrice-minority person who has just made history as the first nominee of her type is making plenty progress.

Replay the debate between Democrat candidates. Lupe can't put together a coherent sentence. Getting Lupe nominated will assure Democrats stay home.

I see how/why the Right accuses the Left of focusing on ID politics. It's hypocritical b/c 🇺🇸 was founded on white ID politics but humor me. Just b/c Lupe Valdez is a lesbian Latina doesn't mean she's entitled to any1's vote. I'm all for diverse govt but this is abt policy.
