For a year and a half, President Trump has threatened to crack down on leaks and leakers. The seizure of emails and phone records from a reporter at The Times tells a great deal about what that might look like.https://nyti.ms/2JLIOhs

The President of the U.S., @realDonaldTrump declared that the media is “our country’s biggest enemy”. So, Trump literally considers American’s free press, afforded rights by our Constitution, a bigger enemy to this nation than Russia, North Korea, and Iran. Think about that.

Just remember that when Obama did they same thing and you failed to throw a riot over it, it set the precedent. We entrust people with important secrets not to sell them to times reporters in exchange for sex, money, and lavish gifts

This is a lie. Obama did not do this. There's no way in hell MAGAts wouldn't have thrown fits about it.

Love The Daily because you usually cover all angles, however, Trump is not wrong: anonymous sources, big headlines for clicks & then a correction buried in the back page. This is the reason many no longer trust the MSM & Trump is able to gain traction with the fake news label.

That was a precedent set by the Obama administration and when that administration took journalists through courts with threats of imprisonment. That’s how slippery slopes work - downwards.

Hmmmm .... the @nytimes seemed fine with the phone records and electronic communications being seized when it was Trumps lawyer Michael Cohn.

During the campaign Trump began his agenda if division, destroying the free press, stacking the courts to his favor, destroying the intelligence agencies, destroying DOJ, giving racist a voice. His aim is to destroy all checks and balances. It appears he intends to totally rule.

Or you could read Sharyl Attkisson's book Stonewalled to see what it was like under Obama's presidency. Or ask James Risen what he thinks.https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wemple/wp/2018/06/08/seizing-journalists-records-an-outrage-that-obama-normalized-for-trump/ …

I’d feel better if @nytimes took some responsibility for raising this man up. I’ve been a loyal subscriber for 30+ years. You guys need to self-examine.
