But people keep referring to it as a "relationship"? Wakanda colonizer nonsense is that? You don't confront reality by engaging in euphemisms for a man having sex with someone considered property by law and custom.

If you check the Wikipedia article on Hemmings, there's no mention of the word "rape" or the question of consent when having sex with a human you legally own. It's like the question is being suppressed or something.

The denial on this point is pervasive. It's also predictable.

She was a slave and rape survivor. Some relationship.

I’ve never understood the term “rape survivor”. Yes there are definitely situations where the victim does die, but it’s not an inherently deadly act.

So, knocking a SLAVE up is called a “relationship”? Y’all are losing your damn minds... Next you’ll be saying the kids snatched from their parents on the border are “happy and in great spirits”! #HappyFathersDaypic.twitter.com/WVgfPyQDdu

It's important to show and talk about things like this - the more we study history the more we learn from it.

Virginians are... interesting that way. The spin commonwealthers can put on history is truly astounding - both the history of the nation and their own family. I sit in awe listening to my own family sometimes.

I was recently telling my daughter that Virginia is one of the nicest places I've been to. The roadsides are kept immaculate, the people are nice, and Monticello was incredible. (From Texas.)

It's all the denial. 😂 And most Virginians are perpetually tipsy. I'm glad you liked Virginia! We've made much progress over the last few years.
