Pregnancy discrimination is rampant inside some of America’s biggest companies. Women lose jobs, promotions and equal pay.https://nyti.ms/2JIWEkT

you almost had me convinced this was a real story and then you had to toss in the buzz word. how does one lose equal pay? you mean they had equal pay and then got offered less pay and accepted due to pregnancy? stop taking real issues and attaching them to the made up crap issues

That’s what happened to my wife at iHeart, they did a reorg while she was on maternity leave and even though she had over a decade experience and was a top earner they dropped her down to basically entry level status and took her accounts

reorgs happen to everyone though, happened in our family recently as well. but you are not required to accept the new pay scale, you can always take the layoff. they can't force you to take a pay cut

Not every situation is the same, reorgs do happen, I agree and there was no “layoff” compensation offer. She was specifically targeting for demotion by the manager because she was on maternity leave twice in two years. This was not a corporate reorg. only specific to her office

I know it happens, I'm just saying it's a separate issue from the whole gender equality crap arguement. equal pay is a different concept. but I know there are struggles that happen surrounding maternity, that's the issue in the article that is real

Except they gave her large accounts to a man and gave her smaller ones to build up again, even though her clients were very happy and gave very negative feedback in response to the change. To me that speaks to equal pay, just as much as anything else you want to call it

equal pay law wouldn't fix this situation. the equal pay concept is about legalized, aggregate discrimination. Your wife's situation has more to do with bosses who don't like the inconvenience of maternity leave and work around the rules. But honestly, you may wanna sue

I tried to get her to sue, but she wasn’t willing to go through it. Instead she worked to try and build up the other accounts and eventually found another job, in an office with not one man. She wasn’t looking for that, just coincidence, but has worked out nicely so far

Absolutely, it's a mentally and cultural issue in many companies, regardless of who is in charge.

I took equal pay for equal course thirty years ago if not longer and I sometimes think we have gone backwards

We have. If I go to an interview for a job there is always the question about kids and pregnancy and in my country women get less pay for the same job. I don't get it.

Well just my opinion the question of pregnancy or children shouldn't be on any interview written or verbal. I am for human rights not for one genre. I have a male nurse friend and he feels discriminated against at times and that is BS to

No doubt due to men running the show, who by the way wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for their mothers.
