Can we stop calling it a relationship? He owned her. She was a slave. How much choice did she have in this “relationship?”

Um... "relationship?" You misspelled "rape." Regardless of whatever the "dynamic" was between them, there's no such thing as consent between an enslaved person and a slaver. #dontBSyourself

In the article they do mention rape and apparently it’s printed at the exhibit. It was definitely rape, as she couldn’t give consent (as you said), and if she said “no,” it may have led to something even worse.

Exactly. The article mentions it as a question & quotes the foundation head obfuscating by equivocating between "affection" & "rape." Which is gross of them. The foundation finally mentioning rape as just one of many "views" about a "sexual relationship" is cynical at the least.pic.twitter.com/DN3spAicau

We can't know what the dynamic was but we certainly know what it wasn't. It wasn't all peachy keen like they try to make it out to be. He wasn't this benevolent slave owner that fell in love with his property and decided one day he wanted to start a family with her.

This is true but the term ‘mistress’ definition gives her choices she had none did she have his children by choice? No I doubt it she was a slave. He decided early on to keep her close she was half sister to Jefferson’s wife.

On many accounts she was not treated like a slave and also was given her freedom. That period of time may have dictated how she was treated.
