This is absolutely terrifying because this shouldn’t be happening in the US. We live in troubling times. Political cartoons help us make sense of what’s happening and how ludicrous things are right now. Since when do we fire people who reveal the truth through political cartoons?

Would you be terrified if he was fired for making cartoons supporting Trump? My guess is no, Deb.
-
This is about freedom of speech. Firing a political cartoonist who has chosen a topic that his employer finds objectionable due only to political reasons is what concerns me.That termination is a form of censorship. What’s next? Once you allow this to happen, who else gets fired?
-
Actually it isn't at all. He can draw whatever he wants (and still can) and his employer may fire him if they want because it is THEIR business. The cartoonist's 1A rights are not infringed on because another party does not want to continue providing a forum and paying for it.
-
Well said. You don’t have freedom of speech at work. Employers business, his rules.
-
So political cartoonists are now being limited to drawing cartoons that reflect ONLY the political views of their employers. I naively thought that the PURPOSE of political cartoons was to show through satire what’s happening in politics & not just what’s favorable to one party.
-
They can still draw political cartoons. An employer has a right to say, we are not paying you for it. Employment is at will. You do not have “free speech” at work. I can’t say anything I want. Type of job has no bearing
-
So what’s the REAL purpose of political cartoons? Aren’t they suppose to reflect the realities of politics? If so, why are employers taking it upon themselves to play censor? Doesn’t that actually compromise the ability of political cartoonists to speak the TRUTH through satire?

Mr. Rogers, publish a book with your Trump cartoons and never look back.

Move on and keep making fun of trump. You can now add your former employer to the cartoon mix.

I don't get his story? Is he being fired over a political cartoon? Political cartoonist no matter the party should be allowed to satire.

Sometimes we forget to respect the office ! It's face of the nation, man!
-
"The office" you refer is occupied by an administrator, an employee. As a citizen you are obligated to demand answers from that employee and you have the right to harshly criticize his/her work. It's the same in every country with a Presidential regime.
