“The Death Of Democracy” was excellent — and highly relevant — a complex story of the many forces that misaligned to allow Hitler to take power, told in beautifully clear prose. Thank you, @BenjaminHett!

This is exactly what #India is going through today, with leaders like @narendramodi from @bjp, RSS and other right wing majoritarians whose ideologies are inspired from #Hitler and the Nazis.

Tanke a look at the German stamps from the mid 30'ies and you will understand that the german people were desperate for a way out, Hitler offered such a way.

Hitler didn't win the election of 1932, as he received only 33.1% of the vote. It was Hindenburg who appointed him as Chancellor. After that elections were only partially free.

The allies developed a Germany weak forever plan to prevent a future war. They then proceeded to make compliance optional and when demonstrated it was a complete failure refused to admit it. There was the tremendous success of the Vichy Government though.

We are seeing the same behavior in the trump admin and we have social media and real time news. The ease with which Hitler came to power is so much easier to understand now.
