"We have been basing our policy on the basis that the U.S. is a credible partner," said a former Japanese ambassador to the United States. "If that changes, then we have to think differently."https://nyti.ms/2yaFF5x

Trump's chest puffing no secret to Japanese who, no doubt, encountered his unsavory business practices in the NYC real estate market. They also know how deep he is in with China & Russia, who have invested in him w/despicable quid pro quo consequences for America.

Japan, like most other countries around the world has no choice but to be our ally. Make no mistake about this and quit having amnesia as to what our leverage around the world is.

You're missing the point. The ambassador points out that they percieve the US as unreliable, not that they dont want them as their allies.

Robert, you do realize that there have been many denuclearization deals with KJU & North Korea. They were an actual comprehensive detailed plan that focused on the process. Trump got no such thing, he signed a paper saying they will work on it later. Don’t be naive!

Here’s the difference.. The others were from life long bureaucrats who are good as causing the problems and this is from a no non sense business President surrounded by doers and not do nothing complainers.. Don’t be naive...
