For nearly 60 years, it's been his job to wake neighbors for morning prayers and a pre-dawn meal during Ramadan. Now he has competition: cellphone alarms.https://nyti.ms/2JyNqaF

God bless him for his perseverence. It’s beautiful to keep traditions even when technology seems to take over everything. A man’s selfless kindness cannot be overcome. #bravo

If you replace “For morning prayers and a pre-dawn meal” to “By shouting ‘Carla let me in! I lost my keys! CAAARRRLLLLA!’,” this could be about my neighbor.

Not just cellphones, but also a more diverse workforce with moms who can't afford to hush their babies all night because of the drums. This tradition is not much appreciated even in Muslim neighborhoods in Turkey.
