When it patches a security hole in software it’s called a “Security Update” and is regularly pushed out to users with little fanfare. It seems that when it’s patching a security hole in hardware it’s called “Breaking News” and merits a lengthy piece in the NY Times. #apple #appl

In my view, the 4th and the 1st are thee most important ...... This decision by Apple makes me smile.

Totally agree however with due process this may very well lead to critical evidence being unavailable to prosecutors thus making cases more difficult and more expensive to prosecute.

and therefore a warrant is needed .... this is an easy path, but we need to be secure in our doings.

And this is good news?Has Apple lost their minds? If police can't access these devices then who's gonna help those thousands of women and children preyed upon by these online child molesting creeps?I wouldn't want to have to wait on Apple to give me what I needed to find them .

So you’re okay with law enforcement going through your device without a warrant? Don’t give me the “I have nothing to hide” excuse either. It’s an infringement on your privacy. They can get a warrant and do it legally. Either they uphold the law or there’s chaos.

Yes, actually. The phone prohibits data transfer via its port after some time (without password entry). That would shut down these unlock machines. Here's a better description:https://www.theverge.com/2018/6/13/17461464/apple-update-graykey-ios-police-hacking …
