In much of the U.S., the stereotype that boys do better than girls at math isn’t true. But there’s a notable exception.https://nyti.ms/2y7kTUa

Bc of sexism. Women are constantly being told they can't do these, even though they can

Stop being dogmatic and stop making things up. No one is stopping women from going into STEM. No one is stopping men from going into nursing or teaching either.

Maybe if you do your math you'll figure it out: in poorer areas the boys are not pushed as hard to excell academically so the girls, being more collected, surpass them. Where boys are challengedas in financially more secure and better educated homes, they do better that girls.

My daughter is starting her Masters work in statistical analysis, girls can do math fine. They often have other priorities though.

Could there be correlation with the statistics showing greater traditional gender preference for career choices in Scandinavian countries? I.e. as freedom increases, a traditional curve emerges?

The stat indicates boys in the more affluent areas outperform by just 0.25 grade levels. That certainly is a very small gap. Although data might be thin it would be most useful to compare that to one and two generations ago.
