Lots of smart technologists and futurists are convinced that we are on the cusp of a world in which AI, robotics and other technologies will make a large portion of today’s jobs obsoletehttps://nyti.ms/2LLOR23

If these Cassandra's prove correct, then let's start discussing (1) Lafargue's The Right to be Lazy or Russell's In Praise of Idleness; (2) universal basic incomes; and (3) the value of education beyond human capital.

A smart government (not ours right now) would commence a massive education program, changing the entire structure of schools. The #1 thing taught should be birth control. Next, computer skills and technology. Teach how to swim in the sharing economy. Find your skill and share it.

The job landscape changes. People are infinitely creative. The supposition That AI will create hundreds of millions of idle workers is simple minded and inflammatory. Readers get stressed out unnecessarily, but the NYT gets their clicks... so mission accomplished.

Companies can barely handle the current load of Day let alone manage it with A1. But A1 is to technology what driverless cars are to the current state of our infrastructures....

In a study by Oxford University, they estimated in 30 years 90% of jobs will be done by robotics including many medical duties. If you have a child today earning a living for that child will be bleak.

But robots have to be made, parts made for replacement, repair shops for problems, insurance, programers, computerized mechanics, inclement weather problems. Delivery. Other jobs will evolve as a result.

Too late! Ask every operator that worked for AT&T that were replaced by conversant. I had the job of helping these angry people try to find another position. They immediately hit 0 for a live representative. I do as well and feel rage when I have to talk to a computer.
