One of the complications of #LASIK is corneal ectasia (post-LASIK ectasia or keratoectasia) which is similar to #keratoconus. To the commenters below, wanting to be able to see properly has nothing to do w/vanity. I did research Lasik which is why I stuck w/my crappy glasses. I did great w/contacts for many years but my eyes are too dry now to tolerate them. Another reason to avoid Lasik.

I got Lasik earlier this year and I am incredibly satisfied with the results...best advice I can say is be willing to pay a premium for the BEST doctor in your area...I would never Groupon a surgery as consequential at this but many do.
-
Choose a doctor that is known for turning away patients if there are pre-existing eye problems...the best IMO usually have some obvious case of OCD. But again I would not price shop on a surgery like this.

I developed corneal ecstasia 4.5 years after LASIK. Cross-linking helped stop the corneal aberration, and it improved slightly. I now have to wear rigid gas permeable contacts for vision clarity. These contacts are sometimes very uncomfortable to wear. I regret LASIK.
-
Interesting that this was picked up by a Laser Vision clinic. Transparent on their part. By the way I was 25, I have thick corneas even after lasik, no high BP, and correction was minimal. I didn’t have the supposed risk factors for ecstasia and still got it.

(3) or reduction surgery can have side effects. Have a conversation with your physician. Get a second opinion. Weigh the pros and cons, THEN make your decision. I'm glad I had my LASIK, and I'm sorry that others have experienced difficulties afterwards.

(2) 50 people, and you won't have the exact same results every time. Medicine isn't exactly like mechanics. All patients will react slightly different. Any time you do an elective procedure, you should really do your research. Even something "simple," such as breast augmentation

I got LASIK back in 2005. I am just now starting to experience dry eyes. I get drops, drink more water and take allergy meds which seem to help. I will need glasses at night soon, but I was warned of this when I got it done.

I can cure your eyesight by adjusting your spine. This surgery and more are allowed to be done on us for experimentation purposes. Our government knows how to cure eyesight. Within reason. If you have a major disorder or disease then you probably can;t get 20/20. But most can.
-
you think it's funny people going around getting surgery they don;t need?
-
I think you're a quack.

Based on what?
