Genuine question: What do political campaigns require these amounts of money for? Isn’t it basically just for publicity?

Targeted ads? Surveys? Tuning the political message to incoming events? Travelling across the country with a crew that earns a salary? It is all publicity in a sense, but fairly complex and expensive.

One a feckless, wreckless, puppet politician for Obama, the other a feckless, ridiculous, puppet anchor for CNN hugging it out, celebrating themselves. Both are a joke to Americans. @WhiteHouse @PressSec

Just cap it, ya’ll treat your politics like it’s professional sports in every other aspect anyway. “Left or right until I die” has to be the most self damaging mentality one can have when picking law makers.

Hillary raised 2x what the Trump campaign raised. Hillary supporting Super PACs raised 2.5x more than Trump's. Hillary resoundingly lost. Money supporting a failing ideology isn’t effective.

I think the amount of funds it takes to run for office is despicable. That’s THE reasons why we can’t get anyone in any position that is not corrupt. Running for office should be free.
