As a "bubbly" personality who has dealt with depression for decades- this is spot on. A reminder this week that though I may have turned a corner- my illness is always here. Under my smile. That I am never really "cured".

This is true. Even close friends and family who are always in constant contact, are unable to grasp the magnitude of the burden the severely depressed carry. It is often one unfathomable phenomenon. Tragically, exiting life is often the only real relief they can contemplate.

smiling or frowning has no correlation to depression. You could be the saddest looking person and be the happiest person in the room.

We need advocates. We need to look into this with strength. Our Kate was victimzed by this.

Depressives can get through so much by adopting the well known 'social mask' that is characteristic of so many sufferers, but in the end, if it is depression, you can't fake it till you make it.

And she had the money to get help. Think of the thousands on Medicare that good psychiatrists won’t treat. Even higher suicide rates. 😢

I have severe depression. One time it was, so bad I was psychotic. Luckily, my husband knew it was really bad, and took to the ER, and I was admitted. I know about that pain. Even on meds, I still can thoughts of suicide, not daily, but still at times.

I am NOT powerless. If God was really there for me. He would cure me of my depression, so would not have these thoughts of suicide all the time. I know all about God. He mean in my book.

Why do I have inbox you? Just have God cure me from where you are. He knows everything, right? So he knows where you are at. He knows where I am at, so just have him cure me. One other question: how will I know if he cures me?
