In Opinion Op-Ed columnist Charles M. Blow writes that Donald Trump "disguises his hatred, often as a veneration and defense of his base, the flag, law enforcement or the military. He hijacks their valor to advance his personal hatred."https://nyti.ms/2xRLapp

Donald Trump's self-loathing and ugliness have been on full display for decades. His endless narcissism cannot mask how weak his character is. Rather, Trump's behavior constantly shows thinking Americans what a car-wreck of a person he is. #Trump #TrumpLiesMatter #PutinsPuppet

His weak moral character is why he is president today. There are way too many Americans who think JUST LIKE HIM! As a Democrat, I can disagree with someone like John McCain, but I know he's definitely a man with honorable convictions. There is nothing honorable about 45. Nothing.

Awesome article! Truly captures the heart(lessness) of #45. One of the many things Trump hates is apologizing. When FINALLY forced to recant birtherism, his short pre-written stmt with no Q & A ("Period!") didn't even TOUCH upon his constant harping about Obama's birthplace.

Charles, this is one of the best opinion pieces I’ve read in a while. Thank you. It is a conscious choice to spend as little time on hatred as possible.

Unfortunately, that same mindset afflicts many of his supporters. They want to get even for imagined slights, and his behavior justifies their own.

Lewis never said or wrote this although he may have agreed with it. The closest similiar statements to that "quote" from those years were made by James Waterman Wise, Jr and John Thomas Flynn in "As We Go Marching"

I find it sad that many of our own people believe that 45 is not racist. Thank you for showing how deep his racism goes, while we get tired of the rhetoric we must continue to resist!

"I WANT to hate....," is a powerful statement reflecting psyche of the sick POTUS. We must overcome his vindictiveness and narcissism with the power of love, which includes "...speaking the truth in love..."pic.twitter.com/EBzJSn3kzK

The insanity of a draft dodger to pawn the flag and the military whenever he wants to repudiate a group of people. 😳 Well yeah. Play the military card. You’ll win.

For some, hate is easier than love. Unfortunately there are too many in the US that act just like him. Those are his base.
