Here at least 10 years and still didn't become a citizen? Sorry time to go. To many vets and American citizens in need of help to give it to those who don't become citizens. Buh buy

Most be a good pizza joint that gives delivery people health benefits, retirement plans and withholds taxes. That is unless he was never sick. I have no issue with immigrants as long as they become citizens. He had ample time.
-
Before criticizing, read up on immigration laws. Your comment reflects a lack of knowledge. It’s actually beneficial for all of us to understand them.
-
I am familiar with the laws. I have inlaws that became citizens. Their parents are in the process of beginning citizens. It doesn't take 8 years. I'm assuming your an immigration lawyer that you are up on the laws?
-
Good for them they are lucky. I know people who have been trying for almost 15 years now. Paying fees being told that their application has been misplaced to there is a step we missed and have to restart the process. It isn't as easy as you make it sound.
-
Never said it was easy and yes some people do run into issues. We did. You all are missing one fact. In 2010 he was told to leave the country and didnt. I'm sure it wasn't a random request and there is more to this that is not being told

VERY misleading headline. The guy has been a fugitive since 2010. This showed up when the guards ran his ID at the gate, so they detained him. Why would our military ignore that? What the F is wrong is 'news' these days to be so blatantly misleading? Shame on

Sir, if you read the article then you would know that this man was married to a US citizen for five years. He had a legal right to apply for a green card and was waiting for a response from INS. Federal law allows this. Mrs. Trump’s status (as well as her parents) was the same!
-
You're missing the point. The headline leaves out a critical detail, which misleads people into feeling sympathy for what turns out to be a logical outcome for a fugitive... Several paragraphs down. This is becoming common, and I expect better from organizations like

Relying on a headline to paint an entire picture is lazy. Complaining about it is even worse.
-
Thanks for both comments. Reflecting on the story, both sympathy for this family and acknowledgement of complex legal immigration issues seem appropriate. NYT missed a chance to explain the legal issues better for their readers.
-
I believe we need a quality press now more than ever. Public trust in journalistic integrity is paramount to where we go next as a country. Every time an organization like NY Times comes off as politically motivated, a little trust is lost.

That's the price of been an illegal immigrant, he was a fugitive. How can a guy deliver pizza without a driver's license? The base guard did the right thing, he followed protocol.
