The taxes are imposed on goods US companies sell to Mexicans. Mexicans buy lots of food from US companies in their supermarkets. There are lots of US supermarkets in Mexico like WalMart that sell imported goods from the US to Mexican buyers. This is not about what “we need”

It is raising costs of the American pork, whiskey and cheese being exported from the USA into Mexico. It will cost Mexicans more to buy these items and they will in return, buy less of these products.
