The taxes are imposed on goods US companies sell to Mexicans. Mexicans buy lots of food from US companies in their supermarkets. There are lots of US supermarkets in Mexico like WalMart that sell imported goods from the US to Mexican buyers. This is not about what “we need”

for the comments here there are many who don’t understands what “impose tariffs” means: It is NOT what Mexici sells to the U.S. is to what Mexico buys from the USA....

What if this was the plan all along? What if Putin wants Trump to start a trade war between the USA and its allies? Crazy conspiracy theory, but in this world it just may be true.

It is raising costs of the American pork, whiskey and cheese being exported from the USA into Mexico. It will cost Mexicans more to buy these items and they will in return, buy less of these products.

These tariffs are for american products sold to Mexico, which means they will be more expensive for mexican consumers.
