Kim Kardashian West's visit to the White House might end up inadvertently highlighting the conflicts and uphill battles ahead for the Trump administration's plan for a criminal justice system overhaul, @katierogers writeshttps://nyti.ms/2LbM4z5

I’m not a fan but Kim brings awareness. It astounds me women are attacking a woman who is advocating for another woman.

It's great that she's advocating for this woman, but do you believe she came to the Oval Office with real, viable plans for prison reform? There are experts out there that have studied the issue exhaustively, but they will never get Trump's ear because they aren't a photo op.

She’s bringing awareness regardless of her motives. I’m not defending her as much as I’m I’m bothered by women attacking her. If she’s getting a voice because she’s Kim Kardashian, then maybe she’ll step up and do more for other women.

I’m not a fan of either, but Kim was advocating for someone else. If this is what it takes to get the USA to address prison reform and the problem with for profit prisons, well so be it.

Leonard Peltier. World's longest held political prisoner. 42 years in prison. No proof of crime. An innocent man. A political prisoner. A great great grandfather now, dying in a cage of lies. I guess Kim Kardashian heartstrings didn't tug for his release. Shame on US, really.pic.twitter.com/69sfXUh1Hm

        2. That's a mocks NEWS TIME magazine cover I did. Since the late 70's I never stopped talking about Leonard Peltier. Leonard is a US and Canadian citizen. Canada sold him out. Time for @JustinTrudeau & @POTUS to free the world's longest held political prisoner #CivilLaw #Lawpic.twitter.com/BfHKxBlB2I

A display of the power of social media and pop culture. Shows us what politics can truly be influenced by. I just hope that Kim K sees this as an opportunity to fully join the fight of prison reform and not as a gold sticker in exercising her privilege to do what “seems” right
