I'm sure more gratuitous media coverage of the shooters' thoughts, goals and motivations is exactly what we need then

So we’re supposed to hide the facts and pretend those events didn’t happen? Why not learn from them?

Did they say if thoughts and prayers have stopped them from doing these things? Just curious since it's apparently our only strategy.

Really, it's taken 19 years to figure this out? I cringe everytime i hear the newscaster say "it's the deadliest shooting.....". Everyone of us knows the next will try to surpass it.

Like a real life video game for sociopaths. The recognition they get from the media coverage is their coveted prize. Not giving them what they want should be part of the strategy

It's as if would-be serial killers don't have the patience to kill one by one. Yes, we know. We know a great deal about human psychology and criminology, that's great. But what are we going to DO to prevent mass shootings which cause terror? I don't care about their "purpose".

Unsurprising. White male desire for hypervisibility has etched its way into murder sprees.
-
Because the Virginia Tech shooter was so white.

-
You can name a couple outliers but that doesn’t make the point she made any less true
-
School shootings are the result of mental health issues. So no, her point is not true.
-
Your response has me questioning what you think her point is because I took her tweet differently than you, and also while mental health is most definitely a factor in school shootings it doesn’t mean it’s the only factor. Multiple different things can be true at the same time
-
I didn’t say it was the only factor, but it’s certainly a more reasonable factor than “they’re all white men looking for attention, so that’s the reason they did it.” Her reply is also very close to the time the article was posted so it’s pretty obvious she didn’t read it.
-
If you’re going to turn her statement into a straw man and make assumptions about if she read the article or not then this conversation is over because I feel it’s no longer productive.
-
Oh, screw you. The article makes no mention of the race of the shooters, so why is it so outrageous of an assumption to think she didn’t read it and just projected her bias against white men for no reason?
