One of the more powerful exercises came toward the end of Starbucks's training, when employees listened to recorded audio clips of other colleagues discussing biased decisions they had made https://nyti.ms/2L7mZFv pic.twitter.com/YkBr98iGZj

That sounds so fuckin fake. If they weren't going to tip why would hide the tip jar?

The point is that he hid the tip jar assuming that they were going to steal it. All starbucks locations have tip jars and it’s a common thing, so they knew that there had to be one. Because of his ignorance, he embarrassed himself. That’s the point.

Then why didn't this person say that he thought they would steal it? Story sounds a fake as bias training.

because unless you’re that stupid to not recognize that from the statement that he saw “two black men walk in”, then it’s pretty obvious. And just because of your response, this needs to be shared outside of Starbucks training because you’re being absolutely ridiculous

@Starbucks sure won't solve the problem, but sure seems like a step in the right direction.

Segregation is wrong and must end. If people do not have exposure to different people and ideals then you have stereotypes like: “Trump supporters are racist”; or hiding the tip jar.

They did the right thing. It’s not like they just issued a statement and let the subject fade away. They actually did something about it.
