Update: Arkady Babchenko emerged very much alive on Wednesday, his death apparently staged as part of an elaborate sting operationhttps://nyti.ms/2IV7sfb

So sad - obviously suicide by multiple gunshot wounds, nothing to do with his criticism of Russia and Putin.

It's now more important than ever to get a story like this right. It's heartbreaking to see every western media outlet report this fake assassination. Detractors will now hold this up as hard proof and will feed into the fake news frenzy. Everything will be questioned.

Everything should be questioned. If 'journalism' is now just about writing up government press releases in their own words then what's the point? Investigative journalism used to be a thing. People were interviewed, governments were questioned.

Proof of anything doesn't matter these days? Kiev says it, must be true. Right. Specially if you can connect it to 'Putin did it'. #Fools
