Sometimes, we want things to be recyclable, so we put them in the recycling bin. Waste managers often call this wishful or aspirational recycling.https://nyti.ms/2IPBi4C

I’m not going to pay to read the whole article, but thank you for posting. People, please stop contaminating the recycling bin. Please learn what is recyclable and what is not. Thank you.

Good article! China's revised standards is a good opportunity to reassess - towns need better communication on recycling, need to explore creating improved recycling systems and need to develop better recyclable packaging esp. for pizza boxes

To be fair, the SOLUTION to our plastic problem in the Oceans is NOT from a consumer standpoint but, rather, it is from a GOVERNMENT standpoint. We simply NEED MASSIVE INVESTMENT of $ to REMEDIATE the problem that exists in the world we live in.

I get that a lot: customers throwing their waste where they're not supposed to leaving me to figure out where each recyclable goes. Nerve-wracking? You bet! But it's gotta be done!

California's quest to replace garbage cans with ones that hold 7 teaspoons is the real "aspirational" recycling.

They should call it what it is: "lazy" or "ill-informed" or even "filthy" behavior.
