Ireland's vote to end its near ban on abortion has inspired many calls in Belfast, London and elsewhere for similar liberalization in British-ruled Northern Ireland, whose draconian laws governing the termination of pregnancy date to the 19th centuryhttps://nyti.ms/2ITmNgj

How can @nytimes be so incorrect in their reporting? Northern Ireland isn’t ruled by Britain. It’s it’s own constituent country within the United Kigdom. #GetYourFactsRight

In the absence of a devolved government it's ruled by Britain

Plus the reporter implies that Northern Ireland is ruled by Britain without being represented in Gov. It’s a ridiculous statement & misleads readers. It’s like saying California or Idaho is ruled by USA and not actually part of it 🙄

The abortion law is archaic but in fact Northern Ireland isn’t Britain ruled, it is part of the UK. Is New York USA ruled?

In a more frightening sense, NI is ruled by a party who still thinks it’s 1690, who has no legislative power at present.

That’s a reasonable reflection of the DUP imo and maybe a worthwhile story for the NY Times.

Absolutely! I’d happily write it too. I think folk from NI can now reel off a massive list of scandals and abysmal behaviour from that lot. Basically, Trump with much more annoying accents 😂

I’ve been at home for 2 general and 3 local elections. I have never once voted for the DUP. And why don’t you stop electing Tories?
