It's a staple of language classes and parental lectures: Say thank you. But as it turns out, human beings say thank you far less often than we might think.https://nyti.ms/2IMnlnY

Unless you are #Canadian, eh. Especially a #Vancouver Canadian. We even shout #ThankYou to our bus drivers as we get off the bus. Was in Scotland for a month in April&all the bus drivers there were shocked to hear my Thanks. @TransLink

I actually noticed that when I was in America for Christmas. (I'm a Canadian in Japan.) It really bugged me.

Maybe at the same time, I guess you need “not to require” their thanks, otherwise it’ll be a huge frustration if you don’t get the word ‘thank you’.

I've been in customer service in one way or another for 20 years. At this point "Thank You" is basically tattooed on my tongue.

Yeah Americans are trash. Worked at a call center for summer and after explaining to a customer for 20 minutes how their bank account is safe, the man said “well that’s great to know! Bye now!” I was shocked.

I can tell you as a mother who really does all for my kids, they are ungrateful. I make them say ty to everyone else, but not to me. Maybe change that!

At the mall, my husband will hold the door open for women (& men) walking up. Do you think the women say thank you? Most don’t. They act like he is the doorman. I sometimes make a comment as they barge on through. Rude!
