A lonesome widow saw a new daughter in her favorite waitress. “At first, she brought a lot of joy into my life,” she said. That would eventually end.https://nyti.ms/2GUqWLc

As the Boomers age into retirement, I urge family members to be extra vigilant about strangers, new "friends" &caregivers who suddenly appear eager to befriend &help. The elderly are top targets for identity theft,&literally being robbed of family jewels, inheritances&property.

What a lovely woman, full of kindness even after all that was taken from her. There are sadly so, so many heartbreaking stories just like hers.

So awful. I hope the elderly that read this will be more cautious. Prov 14:8, Prov 28:3, Zech 7:10 and Lev 6:2 is God's thoughts on the matter.

I’m a home health RN in a very conservative state. Elderly are lonely and naive, it could happen easily to anyone, anywhere. It just amazes me how many “good” families don’t pay much attention to grandma/pa.

That's what happens when family doesn't stay involved in their elderly relative's lives, they get taken advantage of.

It sounds as though it’s just her son— her daughter is disabled— and he may have tried and been rebuffed.

I know this lady's son loves his mom, but you have to be physically present to protect your loved ones. If you get rebuffed, hop in a car or on a plane and go see what the hell is going on!

The mother is not a child. If she told her son that all was well I can understand him believing her. Let’s blame the criminal, not the family.

I think things like this probably happen much more often, maybe not on this scale. Pay attention to your aging parents and grandparents.
