As an example, if you look at the world through the lens of narcissism, the binary result is that everyone is either a narcissist or not one. In this paradigm, it might not occur to you that people have other traits too, or that you mistook the symptoms altogether.

Sullivan seems to suggest here that Christianity is the only religious system that can control or mediate tribalism. Nonsense, the tenets of all major religious systems do that. Unfortunately radicals in all religions pervert them but radicals are a minority in all religions.

Interesting. Do you think some religions do it better than others? To some extent, the most successful religions were really good at beating their rivals. I’m suspicious that any of them works well for inter-group dynamics.
