Well yeah but in the past they would hold a vote on whether to postpone nominations indefinitely. McConnell seized the power to do it unilaterally in Garland’s case, I believe.

Probably not. Dems had 46 seats. They would've needed 4 GOP votes. Hard to see how 4 GOP Senators would've voted to send over the Supreme Court Majority? I can get to 3 but hard to see Lisa Murkowski signing up for that.
