A staffer on the Judiciary Committee sends over this exchange Sen. Kennedy (R - Louisiana) had with Barrett on Griswold v Connecticut and the right to privacy at her Circuit confirmation hearing in 2017.pic.twitter.com/7ZUvvWpNii
Worth watching Hawley’s reaction to Kennedy’s questioning if he goes there https://twitter.com/seungminkim/status/1315773851666714632?s=21 …https://twitter.com/seungminkim/status/1315773851666714632 …
Hawley and co. really grasping at anything with even a slight resemblance to a straw to try to make this about Barrett's faith. Her faith is not the issue. Her judicial record, this sham appointment and rush confirmation are.
Not just a stepping stone, but once Roe is gone, Griswold is next
So now we're thought policing.
Also, Coons is probably not the guy you want to accuse of attacking someone's faith.https://www.rollcall.com/2020/05/27/as-attacks-go-calling-sen-chris-coons-christian-hating-is-a-doozy/ …
I think she's all but stated on the record that her jurisprudence is driven by her faith, which is extremely problematic, so this feigned outrage over 'attacking her faith' is a joke. Folks need to remember she's not a center right justice, she's pure ideology driven
In extreme RW legal circles, the goal goes beyond overturning Roe to overturning Griswold. Both Hawley and Barrett know this and travel in those circles.
I go one step further and say in extreme right wing circles, their goal is to get fetuses full 14th amendment equal protection clause rights. So if you’re pregnant and have cancer, but the chemo might harm the fetus . . .
