    Bitcoin, if it works, is the trigger for the next major enlightenment. It forces normal people to think in ways they never had to before.

    "Mainstream will never use bitcoin because it's too difficult to use properly" is as stupid as mainstreamers saying that "bitcoin will never catch on because it's too difficult to use."

    There is a common narrative emerging from some bitcoiners these days that bitcoin was never meant for mainstream adoption. There’s even an implication that mainstream adoption is dangerous and should be resisted. To me, that’s short-sighted and unimaginative.

    I always thought bitcoin was about putting everyday people back into control of the rewards of their labor through sound money, and since we all currently live in a giant fiat ponzi scheme, then the goal was mainstreaming it.

    What’s bad: - custody - surveillance - poor security Okay...now make tools that make the opposite of these things easy. Making the tools successfully is hard, but imagining that these tools might exist in the future is not that hard!

    If Bitcoin is to reach a billion people, the tools people use to use it must be consumer grade. That doesn't mean compromise; it means consumer centric design. This is going to happen, and we are going to win by default without a battle.
