are most “Stories” actually good stories tho? someone else said it on here, but they realistically feel like small talk — if you rapidly click through my boring shit, i’ll rapidly click through yours

My thought is that since most people were introduced to the internet within different paradigms it takes a lot of time for them to both readjust and not judge the success of one framework through the criteria of the last

What are the fundamental categories of architecture we’ve attempted to stuff massive amounts of the internet into? - raw numbers - algorithms - information & thought as hypertext, as web - now internet as story

information and thought as web and hypertext are good because they’re a trade off between the data and the story paradigms of internet. Story and time based structure that isn’t 100% unscrapeable for data

If only the format promoted storytelling and depth. IMHO social media is borrowing and misusing the word “stories” in the same way it borrowed the word “friends.” Stories are commercials on social media.

I hear what you’re saying. What’s the fundamental bit that makes these things commercials? Is there any way to make them not so or is that bit essential to the structure? I still wrestle with deciding how online performances are fundamentally different than irl ones
