We're seeing more and more red-baiting against Sanders, and we can probably also expect lots of Very Serious think pieces from Respected writers about the meaning and "history" of Socialism. Now more than ever we have to be disciplined and strategic about the ways we respond.

If you're talking to someone and you don't think you can move them, disengage! Be nice, leave the door open to keep talking if you can, and just stop. Fighting with average people just does the work of our enemies.

And no, I'm not talking about playing nice with fascists, but debating them isn't useful either. If you see fascists online you block and report them, if you see them IRL you report them to your local
#antifa organization

Also, Sanders isn't a Communist, but combatting that attack with "No he's a Socialist!" 1) Cedes ground / Puts us on the defensive 2) Legitimizes the anti-communist attack line (next time they use it you won't have a defense because you agreed it's the worst) 3) Divides the Left

The answer to "Sanders is a Communist" isn't "no he's a Socialist," or a screed about what Communism *really* is, it's "the ruling class has absolute power right now and they'll do and say anything to stop working-class people like us from taking any of it back."
