An artists Art could also be a reflection of who/whar they want to be. But not who they are.

Yeah, I feel like the issue is Woody Allen's work is a self portrait, so people who like that work often do so because they identify with Allen's fictionalizations of himself, so if Allen is a bad person it implies *they* are bad people, therefore Allen can not be a bad person.

Please separate Woody Allen molesting his daughters from these movies about woody Allen having sex with young girls.
-
This is spot on. I never had to try to stop loving his movies because for decades it’s been apparent what a creep he is ... through his movies! Like EW no thank you scarjo

The 'separate the art from the artist' thing is BS, it only exists to shield people like Polanski, R Kelly, Allen and the like- the male 'geniuses' we are all supposed to be in awe of. Art has everything to do with the artist who produces it.
-
Like, literally all of R.Kelly’s songs are about sex - how do you separate that from his sex crimes???

@theeashleyray made a great point about this. For caring so deeply about his children, that key point in his life never found it’s way into his work. As if it was all lip service...Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Doesn’t mean Manhattan isn’t a good film

Right. There's plenty of other reasons it's not a good film

Self-aggrandizing, self-congratulating, self-beatifying portraiture as well. So, so gross.
