Understood, but here's my problem. He has spent three-plus years making clear that his opinion is the same, even absent that important context. In other words, is there any doubt that his answer wouldn't have been similar if they were just talking about immigration in general?

I always felt, and may have held my nose to vote for him if he had not said the rapist line. Today is context and apparently blown out of proportion, the previous line stopped him from a popular vote victory.
