So even if an officer is issuing a ticket we must slow to 40kms? More chance of people getting killed when the car behind runs up the back of your car and punts you off the road. How can you go from 110km on an expressway to 40km? Even roadworks have to give sufficient warning.

So I'm driving a b double doing 100km/h and I'm 4 seconds behind the car in front of me also doing 100km/h when we go round a bend and see flashing lights up ahead, the car in front panics and jumps on the brakes to get down to 40km/h disregarding the word "gradually" then what

Not a well thought out law perhaps on multiple laned hwys like the M31 " Move to the right lane, if safe, and reduce speed." Already seen the issues this is causing on Hume and Federal highways. Appreciate the sentiment of the law just not the actual physics of it.
