Lately I’ve finally begun to accept that the reason my sleep has historically been so terrible over the course of my entire life might really just be that my circadian rhythm simply does not function properly and does not actually successfully entrain to the day/night cycle.

This is a known condition that can exist, called “non-24-hour sleep–wake disorder,” but I’ve always been really reluctant to diagnose myself with it because (a) it’s really rare in sighted people, (b) there could be other explanations, and (c) self-diagnosis is generally fraught.

I wonder if it really is that rare. I'd believe that "non-24-hour sleep-wake disorder as diagnosed by Very Serious People with MDs(TM)" is exceptionally rare in sighed people. I don't think that especially matters in an operational sense, though?
