I was initially really frustrated by the trend away from RSS feeds and towards newsletters.
Interestingly, I now look at this mostly as a study in all the ways that RSS *failed* and really was replaced by something better, for certain definitions of better.
Here's a fun one: is an ideal system for distributing content push-based or pull-based? I used to think that pull-based was obviously superior, but it seems that push-based systems like newsletters offer something that writers find valuable.
