This framing crystallizes something that fascinates me about "B2B SaaS" as a genre of business. To pull it off, you need two pretty distinct skills: the ability to study your customers and synthesize a polished solution to your problems, and the ability to wrangle web dev tools.

A very common genre of email I get from people is asking whether I can explain to them how to find needs for SaaS businesses. Here is the entire thing: find a problem which businesses with money have that is amenable to a software solution. The end.

The first one is *core* to the enterprise. The second one currently is, but I suspect (and hope?) that will change. I'd love to see what this space looked like if anyone who can do the customer-understanding part could build a B2B SaaS company.
