Finding myself curious… how many earnest young tech people who buy molbiocell do you suppose read > 10%? I've only read in spots, but I'd guess well over 200hrs for a solid first pass?

I would guess most people that buy it never crack it, probably 95% +/-
200h feels light, it’s normally taught across two semesters outside of a major program. It’s a horrible entry text, but a pretty phenomenal reference text. Confused why it’s so often recommended in isolation

Right, that makes sense. I got 200hr from: it's 1400pp; my textbook first-pass pace is ~10pp/hr; added padding.
(I wonder what % of tech people read 200hrs in a year across all books?)

I went through the whole thing, don't even remember how long it took, even skimming some parts and skipping sections here and there it still seems like it took forever

Out of curiosity: are you glad that you finished (mostly) the whole thing? I’m not sure that I’ve ever read a whole textbook even in, say, a field where I was actively doing research. I usually jump around to the things that are most interesting/relevant. Maybe I’m missing out?
Yes! It gave me a good starting high level map of the domain
