Science twitter: How helpful would it be to have fully open price information for the cost of a given experiment. E.g. if you wonder how much it'd be to do spatial transcriptomics in 2 slices from 1 organ, how much would that be.

I am not a lab scientist, but I frequently ask this question of my lab scientist friends. As far as I can tell, it's not common for the person doing the experiments (i.e., a grad student or postdoc) to know typical costs with any precision, unless the lab is short on money.
