There already is one - Libre Office. It's not made any difference. This is not because alternative equivalent software is not available. It's because: 1. Proprietary software lock data into proprietary formats 2. No one on Windows wants to seriously make an effort to move away
That is my point. Libre Office is miles behind MS Office from a user's perspective. For point 2., there has to be something superior in the product to move away. Linux distros may perhaps be better than Windows (doubt it with Win10), but office and other s/w just not good enough
