Can someone tell me what would be wrong with dude calmly showing the officer his ID to prove his identity

What’s wrong with him declining. The law says he isn’t required to.

My first reaction is--if you have nothing to hide, show the officer your ID and let it end as an innocent mistake. But after seeing so many outrageous shootings.I understand why this gentleman didn't want an officer who was so scared he was shaking to handle this situation.

This guy was in his own yard, minding his own business. The police officer didn't even have the right to detain him, much less arrest him.

I’m a white male and just to be clear, this type of behavior on the behalf of the police just outrages me beyond words. Racial profiling, yep. It makes me sick that we live in a country where this is happening on a daily basis. C’mon now, let’s evolve and change police behavior

Police don't and won't acknowledge there is anything to change, and as long as they are never held accountable, they won't ever change. Blue wall and all that. It's impenetrable.

Police shouldn't have this much power. It's so sick to see most of them abusing their power and walking around like they own everything. The thing is you work for us, the taxpayers. Do your job right and work for our safety. Maybe they should teach them manners 101 in the academy

Its pretty bad all over the country . Yes .... esp. in Calif. Cops think they can do whatever they want these days ... I’ve experienced it !!! and I’m white !!
