In the way that text can be visually categorised into boxes, is there a way for the same be done to spoken word?

Alarm bells, dogs barking, and speech (perhaps deep and high voices.) Could use environmental sounds as categorising symbols to focus on.

On choosing to focus on an environmental sound, a user could be transported to a new context with a new central voice.

This is analogous to the coloured background with text overlay. But associating an environmental sound with a voice would be hard.
