People often wrongly suppose the value of physical territory to be higher than the maps that represent it.
Yes, I know "The Map is not the Territory" but that does not mean that we should always seek to get closer to the territory.

Remember that in many cases the map refers to multiple territories and so on.

Like, for example, looking at free land and saying "why don't people live here" as if unoccupied territory is unoccupied economic space.
