@Ben_Hall Another antipattern is not naming your functions when doing async code. E.g.
makeRequest().then(parseRequest).then(fireEmail)

@Ben_Hall Because people let their callbacks grow first to 10 lines, then 20, then 30. And it creates visual noise: braces, indenting, etc. - 1 more reply
